Jet drift and collective flow in heavy-ion collisions

We study the tomographic applications of a new phenomenon we dub "jet drift" -- deflection high-energy particles and jets toward direction flowing medium to quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions. While physics jet drift is quite general, for specificity consider case photon-jet production at mid-rapidity. Beginning with simplest possible model, large slab uniformly plasma, systematically introduce geometrical elements collision simple optical Glauber model. find that moving causes flow, bending its trajectory leaving detailed signatures flow pattern distribution $\gamma + \: \mathrm{jet}$ acoplanarities. In elliptical geometries non-central collisions, this effect leads strong geometry coupling which persists despite addition event-by-event fluctuations point, impact parameter, acoplanarity. propose observable measure through correlation acoplanarities elliptic soft particles. Preliminary estimates suggest may be studied sPHENIX LHC.
